Calendar of Events
Labor Day Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. This year Labor Day will be observed on Monday, September 7th and District Council 58 will be closed in observance, but anyone who wishes to participate in local area parades should contact their local union representative. Below is a list of upcoming parades and corresponding dates and times in your area:
Belleville – Monday, September 7th at 10 a.m. If you plan on participating you should meet in the parking lot of Cathedral Grade school b/t 9 & 9:30 a.m.
Champaign – Monday, September 7th at 10 a.m. beginning at Lincoln Square
Decatur – Monday, September 7th at 10 a.m.
Granite City - Monday, September 7th at 10 a.m.
Herrin – Monday, September 7th at 10 a.m.
Springfield - Monday, September 7th at 10 a.m. with a 9 a.m. line-up
2nd Annual STAR Awards Ceremony Saturday, September 19, 2009 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Schmidt Park – Altamont, IL
The Safety Training Awards Recognition Program will host the second annual District Council 58 membership picnic on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Schmidt Park in Altamont, IL from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. as well as the Member to Remember membership picnic.
5th Annual Finishing Industries Forum The 5th Annual Finishing Industries Forum will be held November 15-18, 2009 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, NV. It’s an extensive event, made up of plenary sessions and industry workshops featuring keynote speakers.
